102 lata temu, 24 stycznia 1924 roku, w Warszawie zmarł Aleksander Flamberg – nieco zapomniany polski szachista. Odnosił liczne sukcesy w czasach, gdy Polska była pod zaborami, a w 1914 roku zdobył 3. miejsce w Mistrzostwach Rosji. Potrafił pokonać najlepszych szachistów świata, jak choćby w 1912 roku, gdy wygrał mecz z Bogolubowem (+4-1).
